Catching up

Filed under: General — Shamgar @ 4:05 pm

It’s been awhile…again. I’m SO behind on pretty much everything except work right now. There’s a lot going on at the new job, as we are preparing for our busiest time of year. Lots of prep work to be done. Plus, I’m still in the adapting phase. Adjusting to having a team of competant people to depend on, who can handle some of the problems sometimes is hard when for most of your career it’s either been only you, or you were the only one you could trust to do it right. So I’m still doing more work than I probably need to, but my delegation skills in this area will improve with time. Given the critical nature of the coming months, it’s hard to trust folks I don’t know with critical tasks.

Why do we even have a congress?

Filed under: General — Shamgar @ 1:35 pm

Seriously! If we can propose bills that are nearly 3,000 pages long and have a vote on them mere hours later in the house and the next day in the senate and have them PASS then what’s the point? All they are is a stinking rubberstamp for every major bill that comes along and that’s ridiculous!

So now, it goes to Bush’s desk. Wonderful conservative republican that he is, surely he won’t sign this 3k page bill that is going to expand the government and cost us 14billion dollars over the next 4 years. Not the “smaller government” George Bush that I heard about from my republican friends all through the election season. So no worries right?

Well, I resigned my old position two weeks ago, and the third was my last day. ;-) I’m starting my new position Monday managing a fair large SMTP network and I’m pretty excited about it. Going back into the .com world, but in a more stable company.

Mouw’s response

Filed under: Apologetics, General — Shamgar @ 2:53 pm

In the AOMin blog this morning, Dr White quotes an email response from Mouw that is circulating lately, in an attempt to answer his critics. He addresses the central issue of the email well, as would be expected, so I have no intention of trying to expound on that here.

However, a couple of things in the email stood out to me that aren’t related to the central issue that I wanted to comment on.
